In 2017, Nike and Social Status teamed up to release the Jordan 1 exclusively at Art Basel – an annual sneaker and sneaker launch event that takes place in Miami, Florida every year. Launched in two colors named ‘Igloo’ and ‘Rust Pink’, the shoes caused chaos at the Mondrian South Beach hotel delivery point. Hotel organizers canceled the event, prompting Nike to rent a 120ft yacht for sale. These are also Nike’s strangest selling points in recent years, and the value of the shoe has always skyrocketed.
This black, pink and white Jordan 1 is by far one of the most beautiful. The simple color scheme is what makes it stand out, with the pink color adding to the allure of the shoe.
Nike Air Jordan 1 High ‘UNC’ (1985)
When universities flooded the country around the 1980s, Jordan made a difficult choice but decided to attend the University of North Carolina (UNC). Nike has honored MJs’ time at college by releasing this color palette, made up of UNCs jersey colors. Light blue and white are a perfect match, as well as honoring the university that made MJ what it is today.
In 2016, rumors began to circulate that Virgil Abloh’s Off-White label would partner with Nike on several types of shoes. Dubbed ‘The Ten’, the collection boasts a number of past and present products including Vapormax, Air Max 90 and Nike Zoomfly. However, the Air Jordan pair attracted the most attention from sneaker enthusiasts.
